Today is the birthday of my most favorite woman on earth: my mom.
When I think of her, I think of someone who gives so selflessly to everyone in her life. She always makes things so special in putting others first. She truly lives a life of service.
Some people who know my Mom may not realize she spends most of her time each day doing things for others whether receiving a phone call from a local school about a child who needs clothes that sends her on a trip to the store or securing adults to have lunch with children through her church's lunch buddy program in the public school system, or helping a family member through an illness, or simply being a friend to call on. I am thankful for her and the relationship we have. She is so special to me and my family.
Yesterday, my dad, my sister's family and I celebrated with Mom at my parents' house. We could not have had a better day! Here are some photos from our fun day. When I think of my Mom I can't help but think of Casting Crowns' "Lifesong" because it describes her life. I can only hope and pray my lifesong sings to you as hers does.
Empty hands held high
Such small sacrifice
If not joined with my life
I sing in vain tonight
May the words I say
And the things I do
Make my lifesong sing
Bring a smile to You
Let my lifesong sing to You
Let my lifesong sing to You
I want to sign Your name to the end of this day
Knowing that my heart was true
Let my lifesong sing to You
Lord I give my life
A living sacrifice
To reach a world in need
To be Your hands and feet
So may the words I say
And the things I do
Make my lifesong sing
Bring a smile to You
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Let my lifesong sing to You
Thank you Lord for a mother who taught me the most important thing in life by showing me and being an example of someone who puts You first.

Thank you for the kind words. This was the best birthday yet! We had a great day laughing and being the family I've always wanted. You girls did a great job with lunch, gifts, flowers, cards, games oh wow!!!! I have been very blessed with wonderful children who also care for and about others and a caring husband who has made a great life for us all. Thanks again!
